My name is Sven Gorts.
So far most of my programming experience is Java.
However, on the road I did a bit of C++ too.
Interests
- ExtremeProgramming
So far I haven't had the luck to work on a full XP project but in day to day work I've adopted many of its practices, the most important being ReFactoring, TestDrivenDevelopment and regular PairProgramming.
- TestDrivenDevelopment
One of my favorite practices. After reading Kent's book TestDrivenDevelopmentByExample? I adopted TestDrivenDevelopment in my working environment. It worked out great and I've been test driving ever since.
- PairProgramming
Early 2003 PhilippeTSeyen and I spent a couple of sunday afternoons PairProgramming just for fun. We found ourselves amazed about how fast one goes when two brains collaborate to tackle a programming challenge.
I regulary visit the PairProgrammingParties where I've collaborated on various projects, the most important being Connect4J and Wiki2Go.
- ReFactoring
Fowler's Refactoring Improving the Desing of Existing Code and beyond. Other refactoring books I like in particular are Refactoring To Patterns (JoshuaKerievsky?)and Working Effectively With Legacy Code (MichaelFeathers?)
